Virgin Atlantic starts direct Heathrow–Phuket flights

Virgin Atlantic’s first London Heathrow–Phuket flight arrived on 19 October, opening the airline’s seasonal winter service to Thailand’s largest island. The Tourism Authority of Thailand says flight VS214 left Heathrow on 18 October and reached Phuket the next day. For UK travellers, the route adds a non-stop way to begin a Phuket stay without changing planes en route.
Three departures each week
Virgin Atlantic lists flights from Heathrow on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with return services from Phuket on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The winter operation is scheduled to run until 26 March 2027. These weekday patterns can help with trip planning, but check the flight available for your own dates before arranging hotels or onward travel.
Check the clock times before booking
There is a detail worth checking: Virgin Atlantic’s route announcement and the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s launch-day notice show different clock times for the service. We have not reproduced a time that may be out of date. Confirm the local departure and arrival times on the airline’s live itinerary, along with baggage, fare conditions and any schedule changes, before paying.
Plan beyond the airport
Phuket offers beach stays, food and historic streets, while trips to nearby islands or mainland destinations add separate transfers. Those journeys are not included in the flight itself. When comparing the total cost of a break, allow time and budget for the airport transfer, accommodation and any onward boat or road connection. The new flight is a useful direct option, but the best itinerary still depends on your dates and how you want to explore southern Thailand.
