Tallinn: a quieter afternoon in Kadriorg

Kadriorg offers a different rhythm from Tallinn’s medieval centre. Around the palace, formal planting gives way to a larger park of paths and mature trees. Set aside an afternoon for the neighbourhood rather than treating the palace façade as a quick photograph.
The park began in 1718 and now brings together landscapes shaped across several centuries. The Swan Pond and the flower garden near the palace are useful points around which to build a short walk. Seasonal planting changes, so the appeal is the setting rather than a guaranteed display of flowers.
Choose one museum to give the visit a focus. Kadriorg Art Museum, Kumu and the Mikkel Museum offer different collections and experiences within the district. Check the exhibitions, admission arrangements and opening times of your chosen museum before fixing the day.
Leave time for the surrounding streets, where wooden houses and villas add another layer to Kadriorg. A park walk, one collection and a café stop make a manageable alternative to another afternoon of old-town sightseeing.
