Seville: look closely at Plaza de España

Plaza de España is easy to recognise from a distance, but it becomes more interesting when you slow down. Walk along the arcades, study the tiled surfaces and let the curve of the building reveal itself a little at a time.
Spain’s tourism office explains that the plaza was designed for the 1929 Ibero-American Exhibition and sits within María Luisa Park. That setting makes it a natural starting point for a gentle outing, with the park providing a change of pace after the monumental architecture.
Give the visit a simple shape: a circuit of the plaza, time for details, then a walk among the park’s paths. Do not build the experience around a promise of empty photographs. Sharing a grand public space with everyday city life is part of its character, and the quieter details remain there to be found.
