Ruby has made its French debut in Marseille with the opening of Ruby Lilou, announced on 5 October. Set between the Vieux Port and La Joliette, near Le Panier, the hotel offers a new base for travellers who want the city’s waterfront, creative neighbourhoods and café life to shape their stay.

Design with a maritime thread

The 237-room hotel draws on yacht design and Marseille’s Mediterranean setting, combining compact planning with details inspired by the city. Room categories range from Nest to Wow. A 24-hour bar and café sits at the centre of the social offering, while a 300-square-metre rooftop terrace opens the experience towards the surrounding city.

An address for a city-focused break

Music is part of the hotel’s proposition, from programmed sound to live performances. The location and shared spaces suggest a stay built around going out, returning for a pause and heading out again. That makes the opening particularly relevant to readers who prefer an urban hotel with personality over a self-contained resort.

Make room for discoveries between reservations

Our suggestion is to plan a few anchor points, then leave time to follow the neighbourhood at walking pace. Choose the room category that gives you enough space for the length of your trip, and ask about quieter room positions if that matters to you. For rooftop visits or live music, confirm the current programme. The best part of a city break is often the time left between the things you booked.
