Positano: a coast escape with fewer changes of base

Positano’s hillside houses and coastal setting invite a different kind of itinerary: fewer moves, more time in one place. For a short Amalfi Coast escape, our suggestion is to choose a base you genuinely want to return to, rather than trying to sleep in a different town each night.
Italy’s tourism board describes a coastline of cliffs, small bays and cultivated terraces, with distinct towns along the way. That variety is a reason to be selective. Pick the place that matters most to you for an outing, then leave another day without a transfer.
Ravello offers a different perspective from the shore. Its Villa Cimbrone gardens are open to visitors, according to the national tourism guide, while the villa itself operates as a hotel. A garden visit and a hotel stay are different arrangements; check current access before making plans.
Before choosing accommodation, ask about the route from your arrival point, steps and luggage assistance. Check transport for your actual dates rather than assuming every coastal connection runs year-round. The photograph shows Positano; it does not depict Ravello or a particular hotel. This is a suggested travel approach, not a bookable package.
