Emirates marks 30 years of Australian journeys

Emirates has marked three decades of flying to Australia with an update that looks beyond its first Melbourne service. Published on 14 October, following a Melbourne announcement dated 13 October, the release outlines a network spanning five Australian cities and a new chapter in the airline’s hospitality investment.
Five gateways, more ways to plan
The airline reports 70 weekly services across Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide. It says 56 now feature its latest products or refreshed cabins, with more than 5,000 weekly Premium Economy seats across the Australian network. For travellers, the useful question is which aircraft and cabin are scheduled on their particular departure.
A taste of Australia, and a future retreat
The anniversary includes Australian-inspired menus on flights from the five gateways and in the airline’s Australian lounges. The update also points to Emirates Wolgan Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Lodge, with an anticipated opening in early 2027. That property remains a future project, rather than a newly opened stay.
Build the journey around the destination
Our suggestion is to choose the Australian arrival city around the holiday itself. A coastal escape, a city stay and a longer touring itinerary can need very different starting points. Compare flight times, onward travel and the cabin on each leg before settling on a route. A network announcement is a useful starting point for planning, while the booking screen supplies the details for the trip you actually take.
