BEST TRAVELS EDITORIAL
Before you book an experience, ask these five questions
Reviewed 13 October 2026
Turn an appealing description into a clear understanding of what you are buying.
A title and a photograph can explain the appeal of an experience without explaining the booking. Before paying, ask five questions and keep the answers with the confirmation.
What exactly is included?
Separate admission, transport, equipment, food and guiding. An attractive headline may describe the activity without covering every part of the day. Ask about any required reservation that you must make independently.
Where does the experience start and finish?
Check the actual meeting point and return arrangement, not just the destination name. Allow time to get there from your accommodation. If pickup is offered, confirm that your address is inside the service area.
Is it suitable for everyone coming?
Tell the provider about relevant age, mobility or experience requirements you need them to address. Request specific information instead of relying on a broad label such as family-friendly or accessible.
What happens if plans change?
Read the cancellation deadline, the applicable time zone and what happens if weather prevents the activity. Distinguish a refund from a credit or a proposed alternative date. Ask questions before accepting terms you do not understand.
Who is providing the service?
Identify the operator and the booking platform, if different, and save the right contact information for the day. BEST TRAVELS supplies editorial guidance; the provider is responsible for delivering a booked service.
If an essential answer is missing, resolve it before making the booking. A clear description is more useful than a long list of enthusiastic promises.
